Booking a holiday abroad independently has never been easier thanks to the internet. Millions of people each year now arrange their own vacations by booking the flights and accommodation online and thereby by-passing the travel agents. If you have never tried this before, here are a few tips.
For this example, we will look at booking a week break in Rome as an example. The first stage, is to look for a flight on the dates that you require to go. Virtually all the major airlines now have a website where you can book a flight directly with them. Some are budget carriers such as Ryanair, whilst others are more traditional names such as British Airways.
With a suitable flight booked, the next stage is to reserve some accommodation. This can be done in several ways. You could either Google Paris apartments for example, and browse casually through the websites which are listed, or alternatively, go to a website which offers the ability to book hotels all around the world. Another option, is to choose a website which offers deals or sales. For this, you may have to book closer to the time though.
Travel insurance is the next concern, although perhaps not a major one. Some credit cards, in fact, have travel insurance tucked away in their small print, so it may be worth looking. The easiest option, is to just take out a yearly insurance with either your bank or post office though. As with anything, make sure you read the fine print!
And that's it really! A very simple process, and one that can offer you independence and flexibility on your next vacation.
